In a recent update in Google Play Store, Indian financial tech and e-commerce payment company Paytm has been removed from Play Store and now it will not be available in Google’s Play Store to download and the user would not be able to get any new update. The app was taken down because of the repeated violations of Google Play’s policies. It’s been highlighted that the Paytm has recently launched a fantasy cricket tournament and that is the reason behind the action taken by Google.
Google has published a blog post, where they talk about their gambling policy, under that policy any apps developers are not allowed to facilitate any sports betting services on their platform. Google doesn’t allow any kind online sports betting or online casinos or any unregulated gambling apps. If any app provides any external link which takes the user to any paid tournaments where they can win real cash prizes, Google considered such act as a violation of their policies.
Indian tech company Paytm informed their users about the action taken by Google and published a post on twitter, they wrote “Dear Paytm’ers, Paytm Android app is temporarily unavailable on Google’s Play Store for new downloads or updates. It will be back very soon. All your money is completely safe, and you can continue to enjoy your Paytm app as normal.“
Dear Paytm'ers,— Paytm (@Paytm) September 18, 2020
Paytm Android app is temporarily unavailable on Google's Play Store for new downloads or updates. It will be back very soon.
All your money is completely safe, and you can continue to enjoy your Paytm app as normal.
The company informed its users that their money is safe and they can still use the Paytm app, just the new download and update services will not be available temporarily. It means the user can use services like money transfer and other Paytm services as they were using before. A Paytm user can use all the existing services and once the company updates the app which follows the Google Play Policies.
